Keeping Skin Safe This Summer

*Disclaimer: Some of you are perfect mamas and your children have never had a sunburn, this is for the rest of you*

I dread buying sun screen! I’m fully convinced that aisle is bigger than the shampoo aisle. SPF 15, 50, 55 75+.. I can only handle so many numbers before I run screaming.

We all dread a sunburn and so we do our best to prevent it so you have to pick something. I tend to stay away from those that aren’t name brands, and as bad as it is I still prefer sprays over lotions, after all I do have 4 kids to lube up. By the time I’m done with them I’d almost rather fry than apply to myself, until 6 hours later then I’ve changed my mind. Unfortunately, I’m not 10 anymore and could be the neighbors baby with my ultra dark skin, so I have to do something.

But what do you do?!

There’s apparently an app for that too!

Every year about this time EWG puts out their annual findings from thousands and thousands of different kinds of sun screen. They even have an app you can use while you’re in the store shopping.

Who knew there were so many carcinogens in that stuff?! That’s why many of them, particularly the sprays, have such high ratings. And apparently SPFs over 50 are misleading according to the FDA?! You’re suppose to sick to something between the 15-50+ range.

So before you start your summer supply or decide which company you really need to buy stock in before you check out the ratings over on EWG’s Skin Deep website!
